Completion of Week 4 of The Living and Active Challenge

Week 4 of The Living and Active Challenge saw more challenges in my house. I struggled with the new rash. Thankfully the Impetigo has healed, though. As I got a better grasp on that rash though and the management of it I found myself better able to focus. That is until Saturday. Saturday saw the start of croup with my middle daughter, and Sunday saw my husband seemingly catching whatever our daughter has.

Living and Active

Now you think I might be telling you this because I used these things as an excuse not to complete this weeks challenge. Instead I want share that I was able to still fully complete this week’s challenge. In fact this successful completion of the challenge has motivated me to want to carve out thirty minutes each day simply for exercise. I can use and have used: the stationary bike, spent time walking the perimeter of the yard, or I have a book with simple wake up work outs. Reminding myself that getting moving and staying healthy can be easy and enjoyable, helps me to get it in.

I want to encourage you to find something simple and enjoyable that you can work in to your schedule. It will take commitment, and an effort to prioritize this time for yourself. You can do it though. Trust me when I say I know how easy it is to put trivial things first, but this matters. Even the Bible says, ” Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)” Read that again let it soak in. Honor God with your bodies. When we prioritize trivial things above this time we are devoting to improving our health we are not showing God the honor he deserves.

I had to spend the last two weeks before this struggling and stumbling to fully appreciate this. I had spent time on Facebook, watching tv,  reading a book, or just poorly managing my time, instead of  exercising. I am not saying the internet, tv, or books are bad. I am just saying a little less time could be spent with those things and a little more on us and our health.

I have also put a priority on memorizing scripture. It is something worth tucking away in my heart. The verse for this last week was, “Above all else, guard your heart for it is the well-spring of life. (Proverbs 4:23)” If you would like to join me in memorizing scriptures, here is the verse for the next week : “May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)”
